i wonder sometimes if we all should have been reared in the tradition of that immensely influential economist John Stuart Mill- bombarded with tons and tons of enriching crap and then set off into the world to either achieve greatness or to intellectually explode. then i wonder to myself if John Stuart Mill was seen by his contemporaries as a dweeb. all indictions say yes, people were calling him a dweeb, aswell as a dork, a smarty pants and, in a strangely anachronistic warp, a "Steve Urkel". Thus we have reached our themetic paradox- why do we want to create a world of our "ideals": hyper educated hyper Urkelized Millians? Its pointless. I suggest a brave new world of hybrids- taking the childhood developmental highlights of Mills and the grand master of hip-pop Mr. P. Diddy, with equal quanitities of the System of Ratiocinative and Inductive Logic and the Harlem Shuffle- claiming both that they created Utilitarianism and that They Created the Remix- in short my friends i am asking nothing less than the production of a new breed of superchildren- The John Stuart Diddys...(or perhaps the John "Puffy" Mills, although Stuart Daddy will never work)
The Possiblities are endless-
a) the reinnovation of pop culture- pushing not only a Bentley but a Bentham* (*this being the 19th century philosopher of the Coldridge school- who the kids will probably want to give "big ups" to the memory of in concert to their requiem for their lost Homeboy Biggie Smalls.
b)a renassiance in fashion- a rebirth in everything from Transcendential Gucci Accessories to the advent of the ultra vogue undergarments with a nod to 19 century affection in Long Sean Johns.
c)sage wisdom of their respective figure heads- take the cross sampling of each brilliant mind, say in the below passages:
" To warrant reliance on the general conclusions arrived at by deduction, these conclusions must be found, on careful comparison, to accord with the results of direct observation wherever it can be had. . . Thus it was very reasonably deemed an essential requisite of any true theory of the causes of the celestial motions, that it should lead by deduction to Kepler's laws; which, accordingly, the Newtonian theory did."
and mix it with alittle,say-
[Chorus: Diddy]
